I was away this weekend on a friend's stag weekend in Krakow - a rare trip away for me that involves neither a zoo nor a wildlife expedition! That said, there was, pleasingly, a little incidental wildlife to record - a bird and a rodent from a park in Krakow, and an ungulate spotted at the roadside in Cambridgeshire on the way to Stansted airport.

This post feels a bit inadequate after the two above but one new bird on the way to the IZES meeting today:

112. Red Kite - Milvus milvus

I am stuck inside with heavy rain today, so even though it is the middle of the third month here is the first round-up of the Big Year 2017 (as of what is posted on the list). A lot of people it seems have not updated for a while, and a couple of people seem to have disappeared (?), but here's where things stand right now.

Identified another:

82) Greater Scaup

Quite a successful birding trip today including the first lifers of the year (both of which are quite rare in my part of Poland).

83) Common Woodpigeon (one appeared in my garden this morning and now they're absolutely everywhere. They must have all decided to migrate to Poland at once).
84) Merlin
85) Eurasian Golden Plover
86) Western Marsh Harrier
87) Whooper Swan
88) Horned Lark
89) Stock Dove

Also heard only Common Bittern, but unfortunately I was unable to locate the bird in a huge area of reed beds.

I'll guess that might be Singapore then, for the short-nosed fruit bat at #25?

On the subject of bats, did you go to the Batu Caves in KL?

Hey, you should do a travel thread! :p
