Praise the Flying Spaghetti Monster it is the Easter break (I nearly didn't survive this half term) which I kicked off today with the first of my twice-yearly visits to the West Midland Safari Park.

West Midland Safari Park
76. African elephant
77. Californian sealion (I sat through the show for this, you'd better appreciate it!)
78. Greater one-horned (Indian) rhinoceros
79. Southern white rhinoceros
80. Common hippopotamus
81. Pere David's deer
82. Gemsbok
83. Blackbuck

ZTL claims they have blue wildebeest there, but though I think I saw all hoofy creatures, I am not convinced I saw these. Need to go through my photos to check.

This break I have trips to YWP, Exmoor and Paignton (I WILL see the echidna, I WILL!) and a revisit to Dudley planned, with a possible few more day trips if I can...

I am there, on my own, for the day, so I can park myself at the enclosure from 3pm onwards and wait :)

It's a good tactic, one which has been passed down (well around, the site's not that old!) by ZooChatters since time (well the site!) began.

In my experience, any time prior to 3pm works too :p
When I visited a couple of years ago, I waited for about half an hour at the enclosure but saw nothing. I was gutted (plus with someone who was getting seriously pissed off at waiting), so this is the trip in which it WILL happen. If you see on the news that a random person has been arrested after climbing into the echidna enclosure to peer into the house then you will know what has happened!

Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary

It's slow going from now on, other than a couple of zoos that may add 4plus, it's likely to be ones and twos from now on!

1/4/18 Tilgate Nature Centre

126 Western Grey Kangaroo

No Lady Amherst Pheasant, NeNe or Fischer's Lovebirds in sight!

@Shorts can you clarify which crowned crane species the list specifies please? Am currently stood in front of a pair of red-crowned and wasn't sure if they would count. Cheers :)

They had weavers too, but they were black-necked (velatus) rather than black-headed (melanocephalus). And the mandarin ducks were no-shows!
