*First yellowlegs I have managed to ID. Probably seen this species before.

It's been warming up in Warsaw over the last week or so, and I got my first herp for the year, from my garden pond:

1) Smooth Newt

I've been very busy for the last few weeks and will be for the next two weeks so I haven't yet had a chance to go out birding since summer has entered full effect, but here are a few additions seen from my garden:

110) Common Swift
111) Barn Swallow
112) Common Chiffchaff

My list should see a rapid increase before the end of the month though ;)

I don't leave until the 23rd of May, but I may have a few months in South East Asia and Australia planned once I get these next two pesky weeks of final school exams out the way ;).

I’m green with envy right now :D! Well about the Asia and Australia part, definitely not the exams:p.

Went birding at one of my local spots before classes very early this morning, and got a few very nice new birds! I've heard quite a few cuckoos and water rails this year but today were the first I've actually seen. Two heard-only Savi's warblers keep taunting me, however...

BIRDS:
216) Eurasian reed warbler, Acrocephalus scirpaceus
217) Common cuckoo, Cuculus canorus
218) Purple heron, Ardea purpurea (ssp purpurea)
219) Water rail, Rallus aquaticus
