Hi!
I was wondering if it would be a nice idea to set up a meeting with Zoochatters in Burgers' Zoo.
As I am just checking if there would be people interested. If there is enough people interested we could set a date!

It's not looking good, I have been trying to find wheelchair accessible accommodation in Amsterdam for a reasonable price but to no avail.

I responded and filled out those dates I have yet no commitments. However, that may change over time.

I would urge all those who responded positively not to let it run till late(r) and make advance travel plans now - and if from overseas (I know I did this too frequently and those that know me more intimately know what I am talking about - and thanks for all the good times -!!!) -. This also goes for my esteemed other Dutch Zoochat zoofriends though ... (allthough I do not mind a 2-man party, but hey ... the more folks in the group they merrier!).

For @Welsh Photographer travel advice: I am surprised that ... there is not much wheel chair / fair price access around our capital city. However, I would suggest you look around Arnhem and Utrecht as Timmiegun suggested (which have a far better price range and closer to Burgers' Zoo and other zoo facilities in the area (DP Amersfoort, Apenheul ..). If you would be looking to visit Amsterdam or Rotterdam zoos this can be easily accomplished from Utrecht (more central like)/ Arnhem and travel times are never more than an hour plus (with public transport / trains).

I checked out the NH Hotels site and found reasonable priced accessible accommodation in Arnhem and I can also get reasonable priced accessible accommodation in Rotterdam (at the 'easyJet' hotel) where I would probably stay the night before as travelling by train all the way from north Wales would get me to Arnhem very late.

Now a question, I would make a weekend of the trip by going to another zoo on the Sunday, would people recommend Amsterdam or Rotterdam? Both of these are departure points for the Eurostar back home.

I selected that the Saturdays in July are best options for me but probably Saturday 28th July is the very best to put the it midway between two other trips. :)

Depends on what you want to see in those cities. The zoos and cities are very different. Amsterdam is by far more touristic and has a 17th century city centre, whereas Rotterdam was almost completely flattened and sports some very interesting post-war architecture. Artis Amsterdam is also the historic city zoo of the two, with tons of monumental buildings and a 19th century atmosphere. Diergaarde Blijdorp is a good geozoo, with still some listed buildings, but more "naturalistic" enclosures. Blijdorp is probably the better zoo of the two, but depending on what type of zoo you want, Artis might be the better choice.
