Not necessarily: if everything goes well and the weather is good, they will let the baby outside on the first day - I was lucky enough to see Indali at less than 18 hours old (on a mild day in December). It also lets the keepers clean up inside. If it was true, would the group be kept in today, as they were putting food out around closing time.
There are photos on Facebook of the new calf in the paddock today.
As far as we are concerned the elephant calf is a hoax / ghost report. Let it rest please.I take it you are referring to the G.I. Rhino calf here as I can't see any reference(yet) to any new baby Elephant...
There seems to be an elephant calf, although there is no official announcement yet (perhaps because of the rhino calf).I take it you are referring to the G.I. Rhino calf here as I can't see any reference(yet) to any new baby Elephant...

Let us be equally and very glad for anothe Indian rhino calf.
Fair point, taken 5 years for Beni and Asha to have their 2nd calf. Out of interest how many breeding Indian rhinos are there in Britain ?
The only others in the UK that are currently breeding are the Whipsnade trio, but there are plenty in Europe.
