This is an attempt to list every species on exhibit at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, Louisiana during my visit on 4-5-18. I am including species for which there is a sign on each exhibit, and using the named zones on the map going in a roughly clockwise direction from the zoo entrance. This list may be of more interest to those already familiar with the zoo since I am not arranging the species by animal type. I will post each zone separately for clarity.

What was your impression of the Audubon Zoo? The swamp exhibit is considered a classic pioneering immersion exhibit, and is now 30 years old. How does it hold up today?

I enjoyed exploring the zoo and appreciated the mix of historic-feeling formal axes layout and buildings with more modern immersive exhibit complexes beyond the core. Louisiana Swamp is still a great atmospheric complex full of activity and its cultural interpretation stands up well, such as the Spanish moss harvesting display. My largest critique of the zoo is an element it lacks: a comprehensive avian exhibit complex with relevant interpretation of the zoo's namesake, Audubon. The large walk-through aviary is a bit of a letdown in comparison to what could sprout around it or replace it in that area. Granted, the Tropical Bird House was closed for renovation during my visit but it does not look very large from the outside. I rank the zoo at #35 of the 73 zoological facilities I have visited.

I think I should mention that the photos embedded from the gallery in this thread are not the only ones I took; there are many more I added to the zoo's gallery.

Were there any empty exhibits in Jaguar Jungle? I thought I heard Tybalt, Nashville Zoo's male Bair's tapir was supposed to relocate to this zoo, but I know they do not have a tapir exhibit currently. I figured he might end up in this area. Or maybe behind the scenes if they have in the plans to build an exhibit.
