Seems I did! I must have forgotten to post them here.
Here's the missing species, from a quick round of my local spots on the 15th:

110) Western marsh harrier, Circus aeruginosus
111) Little owl, Athene noctua

Today I went to look for a North Island Tomtit. I haven't seen one before because, while they aren't rare overall, I simply have never been birding in any North Island forests where they are found. They are rare around Wellington but there are a couple of reserves in which they occur, including the Keith George Memorial Park which is where I decided to go.

The walk from the train station to the reserve wasn't quite as straight-forward or as short as Google Maps had told me, but a pair of Eastern Rosellas flew past on the way so that was okay. Given the name "memorial park" I had been expecting the trails in the forest to be ... walkable, I guess. Instead the trail I took went straight upwards. Imagine a staircase made of roots and mud, but then jumbled up in a blender and tipped back out onto the hillside. It was not so much a climb as an ascent. Of course coming back down was much faster...

It felt like half an hour but was probably more like ten minutes before the first bird appeared, a North Island Fantail, closely followed a minute later by a North Island Tomtit. Naturally this had to be right where the track levelled out at the top of the ridge. Couldn't have shown up at the bottom before I'd climbed all the way up there! I hung around the area for a bit and a bird-wave came through - not something seen a lot in New Zealand any more - with not only the Fantails and Tomtits, but also Grey Warblers, Waxeyes, and Whiteheads.

42) Spotted Shag Stictocarbo punctatus
43) Eastern Rosella Platycercus eximius
44) Tomtit Petroica macrocephala (not a lifer because I have seen the species before, just not the North Island subspecies toitoi)

Two more from today! Whooper was the only European swan I was missing in Belgium, so it's cool to complete the set.

BIRDS:

125) Whooper swan, Cygnus cygnus
126) Eurasian tree sparrow, Passer montanus
