That's more than fineMany thanks for that clarification (I don't know how you taxonomy nerds keep up with all these developments). I've reviewed the situation and unfortunately for Magpie Goose, unless the bird was labelled Tyto furcata, I'll have to disallow it (blame TLD for schooling us).
Phew, I was morally uncomfortable allowing it -although the rules flex for practical reasons it did seem a bit absurd (it's one thing not knowing the provenance of a Jaguar which couldn't be found "that far" from South America but quite another for a world-ranging "species"). Bless taxonomy changes (in this instance).
Finally, I would point out that there are some, allowable, American Barn Owls in UK collections (mainly small birds of prey centres).
