Movie review rant 2019

I suspect you're more or less right there! I stopped watching CinemaSins, though, as he started to annoy me.
I know what you mean. I used to watch them all (or almost all - I would skip some for movies which simply didn't interest me), but now there are quite a few which I start to watch and they are so bad I just turn them off. And it's not a case of movies I do like versus movies I don't like, it is that some episodes are just unwatchable.

That's why I qualified that channel with a "maybe" in my post, because I was pretty sure there would be other people like that. In contrast the Honest Trailers and Pitch Meetings are always funny and watchable.

I do from time to time. I find him a bit annoying to be honest.

I find the supporting cast to be far more annoying than him, and the sketches are truly awful! As a rule I tend to skip the first few minutes and stop watching as soon as the review has ended.

I have (literally and honestly) never seen even a part of an episode of this series.

I tried to watch the first two episode, I tried to read the first book, but unfortunately I like my fantasy to have humour as well as blood, guts and sex... personally I blame Terry Pratchett! :p

For some reason I had a feeling you'd never watched the show. It takes some getting used to but at one point it was probably the greatest show on Earth, now it's a joke. This last season gets more and more ridiculous with each passing episode. Thankfully there are only two more, but it sucks that such a great show has such a horrible ending that doesn't actually fulfill any of the promises built up over the last nine years (not to mention the book readers that have been waiting since 1996 to find out how it all ends...).

Question, how come CinemaSins has been re-uploading all of his old videos? It seems like a shameless tactic to get more views while being able to produce less videos (it's my understanding that he used to upload new videos twice a week, but now one of those days is used to post old videos).

They do re-uploads on a Saturday, usually videos that have been taken down due to copyright issues. You'll notice the re-uploads don't have much music in them, which is what normally gets the video removed in the first place.

New videos are still on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I find it hard to believe that they've had so many videos taken down that they've been able to post re-uploads every Saturday for, what, at least a year now? Not to mention they've already re-uploaded videos that they first uploaded after they started doing the re-uploads so you'd think if music was the problem they'd have fixed that by then.

They have been doing it for a while now, but surely a lot of viewers won't/don't bother with the re-uploads because they've already watched them. I only rewatch them if they were good in the first place, or I haven't seen them. Won't that cost them views?

A couple of YouTube channels that I watch keep having the same issues with videos being taken down due to audio, despite claiming fair use, Mr Sunday Movies goes into detail about it in one of his weekly podcasts. Unfortunately I can't remember which one and they go on for close to 2 hours apiece... :p

I'm sure many viewers don't bother rewatching them but some will. It doesn't cost them views to simply re-upload a video that they've already made, especially if it's not interrupting their regular stream of new videos. It will, however, bring them more views and thus more income from the people who do watch it. He re-uploaded a video that's not even a year old about two hours ago and it currently has 50K views. I understand maybe re-uploading or, more understandably, remaking early videos that most people won't have seen or aren't very good but he's literally re-uploading videos that are less than a year old.

Yeah Mr. Sunday Movies had his original channel completely deleted because of that stuff. I believe Universal Studios are who cause him and many others the most amount of trouble. He just had a Pokemon-themed Caravan of Garbage episode deleted I believe.

I'd quite like them to redo some of the earlier 3 and 4 minute long videos. There's so much more wrong with Amazing Spider-Man... :p

That was a quality episode, Mason hated every second of it. :D

Nostalgia Critic made an episode on Jurassic World (or JW Fallen Kingdom, I don't remember) without any footage from the real movie, but they instead used those over the top sketches. Apparently it was done because their content, including their JW/JP material, gets taken down regularly.

Thanks for that, I couldn't remember which channel. But yeah, those sketches were awful but necessary in that instance. ;)

I wish I saw it!

Yeah any videos about Fallen Kingdom were copyright struck by Universal in an attempt to delete criticism of the movie off of YouTube. Even if the footage used was from the trailers, which is completely covered by fair use laws, they'd still strike them. YouTube also sucks so whenever a video gets a copyright strike they just pull it down and don't bother to check whether or not it actually violated anything. You can then go through an appeals process but sometimes you get stuck in review limbo and it's often easier to just re-upload the video and hope it doesn't happen again. Some of the channels I watch had their FK reviews taken down up to four or five times before they were able to stop Universal from falsely copyright striking everything, often by pulling the same move Nostalgia Critic did and removing all footage related to the movie altogether.

DISCLAIMER: I'm a huge Pokemon fan:

Detective Pikachu (150/10)
As a Pokemon fan, this movie is brilliant. The visuals are stunning (especially in the Torterra scene) and you feel like you are right there, in the Pokemon's world. The characters are well-developed and I cared about what was going on. Parts were a little predicative, but I didn't care. I look forward to furthers installments of the Pokemon Cinematic Universe. A whopping 150 more movies are planned. I hope one is an Avengers crossover. Actually I would hate that.

Are you sure this wasn't just a joke about how there were originally 150 Pokemon, and that they tend to always release new ones 150 at a time?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't.

EDIT: I'm too gullible. :D:p I wouldn't be surprised if they release a lot of movies, though.
