Metro Richmond has at least 5. From what I could see earlier this week, there's 3 including a young one in the main exhibit, then at least 2 more on the island in the train ride section.

Tasha was born 3 March 1980 at Kansas City.
Rory was born 3 February 1981 at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
RJ was born 11 January 2015 at Richmond, to Tasha and Rory.
Patrick was born 17 March 1991 at Last Chance Aviaries.
Farley was born 20 September 2006 at Last Chance Aviaries.
Lucu is 5, and I believe was born at Richmond?

I think you accidentally swapped Mexico and Canada's total facilities numbers at the top of your list. Also you have 2.0 confirmed for Mexico in your list, but under total individuals you list Mexico as only having 1.0. Nice job putting all this information together though! Very interesting to look over!

I noticed that too! It'll be changed on the list I'm posting on the first of 2020. :)

Anyone know what happened to LEO Zoo's Bornean Orangutans when they closed at the beginning of the year?

The 8 (4.4) orangutans that previously resided at the LEO Zoological Conservation Center were relocated to the Gulf Breeze Zoo and the Metro Richmond Zoo. Of the eight orangutans, 6 (2.4) orangutans (1.0 Louie, 1.0 Artie, 0.1 Sara, 0.1 Brandee, 0.1 Maggie, & 0.1 Indah) were sent to the Gulf Breeze Zoo while 2 (2.0) orangutans (1.0 Patrick & 1.0 Lucu) were sent to the Metro Richmond Zoo.

Thank you! I had no idea they kept so many orangutans before closing.

Those would be the ones kept separate from the main group, in the safari train area, then.
Interesting that several of LEO's orangs were kept by Michael Jackson before his death.

52 year old 0.1 Toba (Sumatran) passed away on January 11, 2020 at the Oklahoma City Zoo.
OKC Zoo Mourns Toba, Oldest Zoo-Born Sumatran Orangutan in the U.S.

@EsserWarrior, are you still planning to post an updated list of the North American orangutan population?

I heard about Toba's death on Instagram. Very sad.
And I am still planning on doing the list. I've been trying to do finals, programs, and taking care of my animals so I haven't had much free time.

On Valentine's Day, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo announced that 21 year old 0.1 Kera Wak (Bornean) is pregnant and expecting her second offspring soon.

The sire of the baby is 34 year old 1.0 Tiram (Bornean). Even though the zoo did not release when exactly Kera Wak is expecting, it's likely she will give birth sometime in 2020, and possibly in the coming months.

51 year old 0.1 Chinta (Hybrid) passed away on February 18, 2020, at the Woodland Park Zoo.
Farewell Chinta: Our Beloved, Eldest Orangutan | Woodland Park Zoo Blog

Having been born on February 19, 1968, Chinta was only a day away from celebrating her 52nd birthday. Before her passing, Chinta was the third oldest orangutan in North America. Chinta's legacy lives on through her 40 year old nephew Rusti, who resides at the Honolulu Zoo, and 38 year old niece Belawan and 31 year old nephew Heran, both of whom reside at the Woodland Park Zoo.

On a personal note, Chinta was one of the first orangutans, including her twin brother Towan, I learned to recognize as an individual. Between 2007 and 2014, my family and I would travel down each summer to visit the zoo. Even though the elephants were the highlight of my visits, seeing Chinta and Towan was always a delight. Their eyes expressed such personality which taught me that animals experience the same feelings and emotions as us. My condolences to those affected by the loss.

Out of curiosity, how many wild-born orangutans are in the US currently and what are their whereabouts?

Currently, 60 year old 0.1 Inji (Sumatran) at the Oregon Zoo is the only wild-born orangutan in the United States.

In North America, as a whole, there are only three wild-born orangutans: 53 year old 0.1 Puppe (Sumatran) at the Toronto Zoo, 60 year old 0.1 Inji (Sumatran) at the Oregon Zoo, and 34 year old 0.1 Ame (Bornean) at the Guadalajara Zoo.

More saddening news... :(

0.1 Kera Wak gave birth to a baby between March 15 and March 20, 2020, at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Unfortunately, the baby was believed to have been born stillborn, even though the pregnancy was viable up until the birth. The sire of the baby was 1.0 Tiram (Cleveland Metroparks Zoo). The gender of the baby and the exact date of birth were not announced in the press release.
