DK Encyclopedia of Animals. Published in 2000 and republished in 2006. Should have a large polar bear on the front.Which exact book is it? There are several animal encyclopedias by DK. And a 'horsefly' at the page with 'mountain goat' is another species of fly, because of its long proboscis.
That is an antelope. Maybe a bushbuck? It says Thomson's gazelle with Victoria Falls at background. Which deer species is it?

Definitely not a Thomson's gazelle as way out of range and not fine enough built for a gazelle. Looks too big for a bushbuck (and anyway they hide away pretty well). I think a waterbuck but if not that it would be a greater kuduThat is an antelope. Maybe a bushbuck?
Didn't notice the spots. I'm going on the antelopes I saw when I was in the region, the only other one I saw was the puku, but none of them have spots. So I guess it seems most likely to be a bushbuck.Certainly not a waterbuck with those spots. My first thought was Bushbuck, need to check against Kudu female. Also certainly not a deer, as there are no native species South of the Sahara.
And I thought it maybe could be fallow deer but they don’t live in Africa. Maybe Dik-Dik.After a little more research, Bushbuck or Sitatunga seem to be the only possibilities with spots and stripes. Anyone know how these can be reliably distinguished?
It's supposed to be a Guizhou Snub-nosed Monkey I think. The book is presumably an older one - the three Chinese species of snub-nosed monkeys were formerly considered to just be subspecies of R. roxellana, despite all being extremely distinct. From the Marshall Illustrated Encyclopedia of Animals, Russian edition
Is it really a Golden snub-nosed monkey?
I'm pretty sure that's the correct possum, but i'm not really sure.View attachment 462432
