Are These in Captivity?

I have always wanted to see a sportive lemur, but If I get to go to Madagascar someday, I will be definitely staying up all night looking at the astounding nocturnal creatures there. Mouse lemurs and sportive lemurs.

Well I am very interested in both of these and particularly the endangered and critically endangered ones like the James' sportive lemur.

I am personally interested in the Anjiamangirana sportive lemur, (totally didn't have to copy and paste that) mainly so I can tell my friends that that's an animal, but also, cuteness!

Well admittedly I did have to copy and paste that as I am still quite unfamiliar with a lot of the sportive lemur species and the name (like most Malagasy ones) is quite a handful to remember.

Very sad to see that like the James' this is a lemur that is critically endangered due to habitat destruction and bushmeat hunting / trade.

Sadly, most sportive lemur species are critically endangered, and time is running out to save them. I think its important for not only Lemurs but all madgascar wildlife to live on, because so many unique species reside on Madagascar, including invertabretes and reptiles. It is a highly deforested area, so me as a zoologist in the future (if some of these animals are still alive :() will first and foremost protect the wildlife of Madagascar, as it is precious and should thrive.

Yep and meanwhile everyone is worrying about gorillas, chimps and orangutangs.
Well, we should worry about those as well, especially orangutans, so not a total overratedness, but I understand where your going with. Madagascar lemurs are super fascinating and colorful in their profiles of each species, so help is needed on all parts of the globe.

We should worry about them, I agree, but lets put it in perspective is what I suggest. Because meanwhile there are MANY other "obscure" primate species including the ones that the team I'm part of are trying very hard to conserve that are slipping towards extinction.

Orangutang, gorilla and chimpanzee (and at least up to some point three of the lion tamarins) conservation is by comparison funded to the hilt and I personally do feel very strongly that this has to be both challenged and addressed.

We cannot have species like the buffy headed marmoset, James' sportive lemur, Rondo dwarf galago or the Roloway monkey vanish from the wild when these primates could be conserved for a mere fraction of the costs of what is pumped annually into great ape conservation.

Oh of course, I totally agree here, I was just stating that Orangutan, gorilla, and chimpanzee, are also pretty endangered, especially some specific subspecies like the cross river gorilla or western chimpanzee. Nothing more. :)

I have pictures of Madagascar crested ibis in SeaWorld San Diego from 2 or 3 years ago Great Argus
Ok, which Seaworld and where in that SeaWorld? last I checked Seaworld only had occasional small aviaries and weren't very much into special avians. Also could you share these photos.

Yes, looking for mouse lemurs at night works, but for sportive lemurs, the best way to see them is to find the resting spots during the day (or be shown these spots by the local guides). Obviously, if you were there for a significant period, then nocturnal observations become more of an option.
The other thing to look out for at night is resting chameleons; easier to detect small arboreal species sleeping on the ends of narrow branches.
