Yeah, some information would be nice, especially given that it is a video not able to be watched by most people. How exactly was the "sighting" "confirmed"? This sounds just like the Madagascar Hippo episode with its unexplained skull-dating.
Did some checking mid 2018 environmental DNA confirmed presence 4th individual. Early this year the only F in Suzhou Zoo died, leaving 3 MM alive and spp functionally extinct.

Based on genetic testing at the end of the episode, the small terrapin turned out to be the common Chinese Softshell Turtle.
This TV video is definitely old school 2018 news item and certainly not hot of the press!!!!
I Will only really get excited if and A a good population in situ is rediscovered and/or a few good females of the species. At the moment It seems highly unlikely

I think for this species to survive in the short term, they need not only to find a female (which is not an absurd proposition in my opinion) but a female in Vietnam. I think the likelihood of cooperation between Vietnam and China to be zero.

I was under the impression that the Vietnamese animals were also known to be male?
Some excellent news - a female Yangtze giant softshell turtle has been found in the wild in Dong Mo Lake, Vietnam.

Great news. Hopefully males can be found in Vietnam because I don’t like the chances of coperation between Vietnam and China.
Its quite possible both can put aside issues for the sake of this species
