Chester Zoo Chester Zoo News 2021

Anyone know where these frogs are please? There was a time that it'd be obvious eg 'Aquarium' but these days they could be anywhere, eg in with the Giraffes!
Thank you :)

I believe they're in Spirit of the Jaguar (in a brand new tank).

Asked on entry have keeper talks returned yet? " They have but where keeping the times and animals secret at first so it's just a chance of getting lucky while you walk around." Ppl around have suggested there'll be an elephant talk at 11. But good too they want to start them again.

A couple bits from my recent visit to Chester Zoo.

A few areas are still closed off including the Bat walkthrough and Tropical Realm upper aviaries.

Back open includes the Aye Aye area, and I was very surprised to see the stables courtyard now open to the public, it just features a few seating areas.

I noticed some work going on as you enter the Lion pathway on the left side, and it says something about a new habitat but no idea what for yet.

A few Madagascan species have moved into Dragons in Danger including Parson's Chameleons, Iguanas, Girdled Lizards, Radiated and Ploughshare's Tortoises etc.

June's café was closed and fenced off due to work going on. I think it is being reroofed.

Islands boat ride was closed all day.

All in all, I had a lovely day and being back there for my first visit in 2 years. It was fairly busy but not overcrowded.

Have to say I'm somewhat surprised Aye-Ayes opened before the upper aviaries!

The Ploughshares and iguanas have been in Dragons for years now :)

I was also surprised and expected it to be still closed. When I entered, it was literally pitch black in the area before I moved into the Aye Aye area. I couldn't see a thing and was worried for bumping into someone or if somebody coughed or sneezed.

It was a shame the upper aviaries was still closed as I wanted to have a good look up there. I sadly didn't stay as long as I wanted to in Tropical Realm.

Yes I did actually know that. The Ploughshares Tortoise have moved into next door to the Mountain Chickens, and there is a Radiated Tortoise in with them too. I can't remember now but I think a Madagascan species is now in where the Tarantula used to be.

A couple of other bits I forgot to note is that the Mini Monkeys have had new fencing all the way around and is a bit taller too, also the old Anoa island has a new chain link fence all around.

Does anyone know if The Secret Life Of The Zoo is available to purchase on DVD? While on the topic of DVDS where is the best place I could look for Zoo Days Chester, I have been looking for this DVD for months.

Login or create an E4 account on your TV and you can watch all of Secret Life from Series 1 Episode 1. Dvds are going out of fashion so streaming is now the only way probably.

The zoo's photo album on Facebook for world animal day 4 October includes a baby red bellied lemur which I think is a first for Chester
