The purpose of this thread is to document all births, deaths, and transfers of all Amur tigers in North America. Overall, this population is quite large especially when compared to the Malayan and Sumatran populations. However, like both other subspecies breeding seems to have slowed down with the Amurs as well. There are tons of young breeding pairs in the population but very few of them have produced cubs together, which is unfortunate. Several zoos are attempting AI with them so lets hope they are more successful in the future as historically it has very rarely resulted in healthy cubs. Anyway, please let me know if you know anything that I don't already have or if I have errors. Thanks and hope you enjoy the list!

San Francisco Zoo has Amur Tigers, I don't have any information on them though. It's implied on their site they have at least a pair, whether that's accurate I do not know.

I looked into it and could find virtually no information on what individuals they hold currently. I will continue looking though.
 
Bronx had 5 Amur tigers when they had the covid-19 outbreak in April 2020. I know they had 1.2 at Tiger mountain and an additional two on the monorail.

Diesel at Lee Simmons: Diesel (Tikhon x Baryshnja), 20 Apr 2017, Moscow Breeding Center - both parents are wild born.

I don't have any listed at San Francisco since a male named Bronevik (Kazek x Basha), 2 June 2009, Hogle, was moved to Omaha, possibly now at Lee Simmons as he's not listed above as being at Omaha. I also have Isabella at Lee Simmons from May 2019.

I have Changbai noted as moving from Beardsley Zoo to Columbus on 28 Aug 2019.

Does anyone know what became of Nikka at John Ball Zoo or Jack at Granby?
 
I wasn’t aware that Como had acquired another Tiger? I’ve only ever seen the elderly female on exhibit, and have seen no indication that there was another. Is this a recent development?

Thanks for all that information! It has been so hard to find any info on which tigers Omaha has currently so Bronevik could be at either facility.

Changbai returned to Beardsley in December 2020: Amur Tiger Changbai Returns To Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo

Nika should still be at John Ball, I just forgot to list her. She is actually listed under Omaha but I got her confused with another Nika (there are 3 Nika's in the population :mad:). The one I have listed under Riverside (0.1 Nika (Globus x Koshka) May 9th, 2005 at Riverbanks Zoo) should be listed under Omaha. And the one at Riverside should be 0.1 Nika (Khuntami x Luna) May 30th, 2004 at Minnesota Zoo. To make it clear, the one at John Ball should be 0.1 Nika (Robeki x Anastasia) April 15th, 2005 at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo. Hope that makes sense, sorry for all that confusion! For some reason I thought Jack died or was sent somewhere else but I cant find any evidence for either of those, so he should still be at Granby.

Tsar has been at Como since late 2018 to early 2019. I found a Facebook Live from July 2020 in which a keeper states he's been there for about a year and a half.
 
For Omaha: The Amur Tiger exhibit in Asian Highlands holds 1 or maybe 2 animals. I know originally, 1.0 has held there when it opened and all other Amur Tigers associated with Omaha were at Lee Simmons at the conservation and breeding center. I have only ever seen 1.0 on exhibit (known solitary animals, but have never seen any females on exhibit is what I am saying).

I agree with MidwestFan on this. I am pretty sure the Zoo holds 1.1, usually the male is on exhibit during visitor hours. There are times you can hear the other from the backstage area.

Link to video of Simsa at Granby, in Feb 2021. They state in the notes to the clip that she has been cohabiting with Jack since 2018. I'm still trying to find out if this is the Simsa from Pittsburgh and, if so, when she moved to Canada.

Thanks! I didn't realize Granby had two breeding pairs, and Simsa is likely from Pittsburgh since I can't find any other "Simsa's" in the population.

The zoo originally recieved 4 sisters from Columbus in 2015, and in early 2020 two of the sisters (Taj and Ursula) were transferred to different zoos (Lake Superior and Bramble Park respectively).

I searched it up and don't really see any evidence of the zoo having any pure Amurs. I found some articles and pictures of white "amur" tigers but those are likely hybrids. If anyone knows more, let me know.

The article below identifies the Omaha COVID-19 positive tigers as 8 year old male Spoutnik and 11 year old female Isabella.

Two tigers at Omaha zoo test positive for COVID

Waldemere (18 years old) at Saint Louis Zoo also tested positive per an announcement yesterday.
