Zoochat Challenge North America 2022

I was just thinking about that while I was at San Antonio, actually. Texas is also just chock full of major collections, almost all within easy driving distance of DFW. I would not be doing as well in the competition if I still lived in Louisiana. The weather certainly hasn't hurt though :p Now I just need St. Louis to not close their bird exhibits in the next week and a half, so I can secure my magpie! I have solid plans for everything else...

Even major zoos around here, like Philly, only recently started opening again; nearly everything closes for the winter now because of weather/saving money. All of the birds being taken off display isn't going to help, either :( Our weather has been so unpredictable, and then my dog limits when I can leave. I'm really frustrated so far lol.

That's an interesting find for a place I haven't heard of before! What's Wildlife Discovery Center like?
It's a small wildlife center in the wealthy superb of Lake Forest, Illinois. The main building has a variety of herps as well as a single river otter, and the outdoor trail has bobcat, coyote, various turtles and a few owls and foxes. Until I requested it a few days ago, it had no gallery on this site. Regarding the crocs, they had two juveniles on display that arrived from Gladys Porter late last year. They have Komodo dragons too apparently, although I must have missed them because I didn't see any today.

That is really frustrating — I’m sorry! :( It’s a shame about the winter closures— I always really enjoyed winter zoo visits when I lived places that had real winters, lol.
