Likely a new addition to Howletts, though not for the Aspinalls - Port Lympne kept them in the past. Wonder if they’ll source a bull.

Does this mean the European bison have left the collection?

A pair of caracal
4 x serval kittens born around June
Only 1 Sumatran tiger there now
1 amur tiger Arina
1 elderly lioness
2 hand raised lion cubs in enclosure next to aspinall mansions
Sable antelope now at the park
 
Is the lioness Saffiya (born 1999) here or is she at Port Lympne?

Out of the 0:0:3 cubs born in January 2021 only 1:0 is still alive(I believe Azi is being hand reared?)

Another 0:0:5 were born in July 2021 but i have no idea on their currently status
 
Yeah azi born January now at howletts hand reared
4 cubs born later in the year around June/July
3 males 1 female
1 male I read was taken out the pride to be placed with azi at around 3 months old other 3 still in pride with mum and dad n 2 sisters

I saw that mentioned but didn’t put two and two together that the buffalo would be in there now. I’m pretty sure you’re right though I can picture the enclosure now, thanks.
 
Technically 2021 news but can't find it having been posted

Lioness Layla died in November at the age of 18 years. She was born at Port Lympne in 2003 and moved here in 2012 with her brother Jabir (died 2019).
 
I had an email from the DAF on Friday (how appropriate on 1 April!) asking me to donate to raise funds to 'rewild' the young ratel born a few years back.

They should know what they can do with their request! I don't want her Sent to the wild, this would probably be just as disastrous as many of the other attempts but apart from that I would rather she stayed and they got a mate for her so the people of South East /East England get to see this amazing animal. I know Exmoor have them now but it's a long way from many people. Also the email states she is the only one of her kind in a UK zoo - more misinformation!

Announced in the last hour on social media, Amur tigress Arina has been put down to "prevent any more suffering".

Apparently she was born with a disability and this had ultimately caught up with her. She was 10 years old.

I'll just lay back and wait for the inevitable article on how Damian intends to release the meerkats of Port Lympne in the wild..
The response to that should be as interesting as hypocritical...!
 
Howletts is officially without lions for the time being as the cubs have reached Africa Good luck to everyone involved in the project
