At the start of this month 1 male and 2 female Eastern quolls (Dasyurus viverrinus) arrived from Zoo Leipzig, this is a new species for zoo Plzen. They have kept this species earlier, between 2016 and 2018.

On May 14 2 ( 1.1 ) Bobcats were born at Plzen .

After a first breeding last year, the West African tree hyraxes have bred again this year. The species is kept at only 3 European zoos.

On the 21st of June a Southern Bolivian Night monkey (Aotus azarae boliviensis) was born.

In August Mechow's mole-rats (Fukomys mechowii) arrived from Zoo Praha, now zoo Plzen has 2 mole rat species.

Last week 5 Capybaras (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) were born.

For the first time in 8 years a Southern screamer (Chauna torquata) hatched in June. Would this also be a zoo first breeding for Plzen Zoo?

Kiwi lives in aviary mixed with morepork owl.

From Swiss private keeper. Zoo was for long time operating in-situ program called Latifi in Iran, that helped establish the connection.

So, I have just seen the new flamingo aviary. The aviary itself looks pretty good. The pond inside is too small and lacks gentle slopes for flamingos. The observation hut for visitors is perfect idea, I can sit at bench under roof while getting unobstructed view of birds.

Edit: no Pseudocerastes on show yet.
