Visited the Bronx again today!

Bronx Zoo (3/10/23)
29. Wolf's Mona Monkey (Cercopithecus wolfi)

I'm in LA this week visiting some people, and today I went to the zoo. Blue-Eyed Lemurs were a highlight. The Sifakas were also really fun to watch-- a keeper was servicing the exhibit as I walked by, and one of the younger animals kept climbing all over her and jumping on her back, which was pretty funny. Here are my updates:

Racine Zoo, 3/16/2023
27. Emperor Tamarin (Saguinus imperator)
Milwaukee County Zoo, 3/16/2023

29. Siamang (Symphalangus syndactylus)
30. Golden Lion Tamarin (Leontopithecus rosalia)
31. Cotton-Top Tamarin (Saguinus oedipus)
Unfortunately, I won't be able to see any new primates until July unless a miracle happens. I've still got the primate treasure trove that is the Wildlife World Zoo to visit, and if all goes well this semester, I'll have two more primate-heavy facilities under my belt this summer...

Primates is looking very competitive!

35. Chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes)
36. White-cheeked Gibbon (Namascus leucogenys)

I was going to wait to join because I wanted to do primates, but unfortunately (Due to a 7+ hour layover) I was unable to visit the SF zoo, which would've given me a nice start. I'll do lizards for now, until I visit two places with primates, then I'll probably switch over.

If all goes well, I might go to Ohio zoos with my dad, Zoo Atlanta and Georgia Aquarium with my grandma, and I may be going on that trip @Corangurilla mentioned, but currently I'm inviting myself which isn't great so I'm not gonna count on that one. Anyways, I'm really enjoying this.

It has that effect, yeah :D

47. tropical girdled lizard (Cordylus tropidosternum)
51. Blue-spiny lizard (Sceloporus cyanogenys)

In case you notice it later: you double counted #51, but you also already had Cordylus tropidosternum from San Antonio Zoo - so 54 is the correct total.

Today I visited the Philadelphia Zoo for the first time, and I think I probably liked it slightly more than the average Zoochatter. The highlight animal here was the Aye-Aye, a species that I have always been fascinated with but had never seen before. They lived in what was probably the darkest nocturnal exhibit I had ever seen, and I ended up spending at least half an hour searching until I finally spotted one. The hard effort was totally worth it though, and it was incredibly rewarding to spot the animal and to get a chance to watch them after investing so much time into it. Here are my other updates from today:

Philadelphia Zoo (3/31/2023)
40. Pied Tamarin (Saguinus bicolor)
41. White Handed Gibbon (Hylobates lar)
42. Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii)
43. Black Headed Spider Monkey (Ateles fusciceps)
44. Aye-Aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis)

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (Tucson, AZ) -- 05 March 2023:
104. Madrean alligator lizard (Elgaria kingii)
105. Western banded gecko (Coleonyx variegatus)
A month later, and we are finally back with an update!

San Diego Zoo (San Diego, CA) -- 04 April 2023:
106. Argus monitor (Varanus panoptes)
107. Biak tree monitor (Varanus kordensis)
108. Golden armadillo girdled lizard (Ouroborus cataphractus)
109. Gorongosa girdled lizard (Smaug mossambicus)
110. Island night lizard (Xantusia riversiana)
111. Mertens’s water monitor (Varanus mertensi)
112. Ocellated lizard (Timon lepidus)

The Buffalo Zoo has changed around their primate rotation, meaning that I saw a species usually off-exhibit during my weekly Sunday visits:
13. Common Squirrel Monkey- Samiri sciureus
Two of the three possible primates weren't out today, but I did add one more species to my total.
Utica Zoo:
14. Mexican Spider Monkey- Ateles geoffroyi vellerosus
