I'll also add the dwarf mongoose on to your list assuming they will be housed In heart of Africa aswell
I have noticed that Mongoose are on the plans and will be housed in the former Aardvark enclosure. I guess it will be the Dwarf species.

Chester are planning to keep mum and the female cub. The male cub is due to go to a European zoo, and Bernie the breeding male is required to go to another collection to breed with a female, and at some point another male will join Chester.
I do not know which bear is in the SOTJ exhibit, but both male bears are expected to be leaving Chester, as part of the breeding program.
The Latin American and Islands aviaries reopened recently and the Tropical Realm and Monsoon Forest have been open for a while. That just leaves the Tsavo African aviary I believe which I'm not quite sure if it's open yet again or not.hi all just a quick question now that avian flu restrictions have now been given the all clear, will chester zoo aviaries walkthroughs be reopened anytime soon? thanks Lisa
Think Tsavo aviary is off display and unoccupied due to HoA building worksThe Latin American and Islands aviaries reopened recently and the Tropical Realm and Monsoon Forest have been open for a while. I noticed almost all of these on my trip 2 weeks ago, the Planet Shark from the zoos map (I also noticed construction work on the old ape house both times I went into Realm of The Red Ape but didn't realise at the time it was due to this), the Meerkats when I was at the Tsavo Black Rhino Reserve, although I never previously realised the enclosure was practically built into a rhino paddock! However, when I visited, the above listed aviaries were all still closed, so unfortunate of me to have missed out on their reopening by such a small margin. In recent days:
- An immersive 360° experience, Planet Shark, has been announced to be coming to the old ape house later this year, from May; Chester Zoo on Instagram: "Sink your teeth into an amazing ‘out of water’ shark experience at Chester Zoo! Join us for the UK PREMIER of ‘Planet Shark: Predator or Prey’ where you will be transported under the sea in our brand NEW immersive exhibition space. Be awe-inspired as you are surrounded by 360 degree projections and come face to face with life-size sharks as you discover one of the world’s most misunderstood predators Opening in May, Planet Shark is FREE with zoo entry, plus become a member and enjoy EXCLUSIVE EARLY access @grande_experiences"
- The meerkats have gone back on display in their former exhibit.
- The Latin America, Sumatra, and Bali aviaries have reopened, with disinfectant mats on both entry & exit.
Here are some of the photos I got of said bear, Bernie according to @Indlovu - although they are mostly blurry so I thought not gallery worthy. Just a question, I've edited this post multiple times trying to label the spoiler as "Andean Bear in SOTJ", but I can't seem to manage it. Does anyone now how to name spoilers?Interesting, didn't know there was an Andean Bear in there again now, must have moved there just after Kyra left... Any idea which bear it is? I'm not sure how many Chester have currently.
When you go to select the spoiler it should give you an option to enter a title for the spoiler. If you don’t want one you can just press continue.Does anyone now how to name spoilers?
Thanks, don't believed this appeared for me then, but I'll bear in in mind for the future. When you go to select the spoiler it should give you an option to enter a title for the spoiler. If you don’t want one you can just press continue.
