Bird Paradise Bird Paradise news 2024

Went to Winged Sanctuary earlier and there are few minor updates:

1) White Crowned Hornbills are back in display at the former Papuan Hornbill cage, as @LeMandaiEnthusiast‧ mentioned earlier this week.

2) Common Green Magpie is now at the Common Hill Myna cage. Common Hill Myna - offshow?

3) No signages at former Common Green Magpie cage, unsure whether it’s truly empty or not.

4) Victoria Crowned Pigeon at Luzon Hornbill cage

Some of the formerly unsigned birds have the proper signages installed.

Common hill mynas are in Wings of Asia and Lory Loft too. Hope they get a much bigger bird for the former lesser BoP cage than tiny common green magpies

Are the Abyssinian Ground Hornbills both females? I wasn't able to see any red patch of bare skin on the throat pouch on either of them when I saw the pair.

Its 1.1. The male displays behaviours such as feeding the female. The team isn't sure why he does not have as much red as he should have but suspected can be either due to his young age or other stuff like diet or genetics.

The Philippine Eagle aviary is finally opened!

Well not fully, as there are potted plants that prevent guests from getting too close to here, but now the area is finally accessible

Quick edit: For some reason the King BoP signboard is gone from its current habitat

Some updates:

The recently acquired new species - Pink-eared Ducks, Falcated Ducks, Copper Pheasants and Satyr Tragopans have been released for display at Australian Outback, Wings of Asia, and Songs of the Forest.

The Lesser Birds of Paradise (2 or 3 individuals) have also been released into the Mysterious Papua aviary. Seems like the Yellow-streaked Lories are currently housed in the holding cage near the link bridge exit.

The mesh that divided the Philippine Eagle aviary has been removed and Sam can use the full space.

The former Lesser BoP cage has alot of its vegetation trimmed down, leaving alot of bare ground, possibly for a more terrestrial inhabitant

Anyone wants to take guesses for what's in store. I don't really seem to think of many terrestrial birds we have that can fit maybe aside from the Green Peafowl

The single Blue-spotted Wood Dove formerly housed at Singapore Zoo's Tortoise Shell-ter has been moved to Winged Sanctuary
Oof Tortoise Shell-ter is down to 1 non tortoise animal if the wattled starling is still around. Which cage is he in?

I saw on an announcement on Mandai's website that Friends of Wildlife members get exclusive early access to Bird Paradise at 8am on 2nd November 2024, Saturday. Does anybody knows what is happening on that day?
