We will certainly go to the zoo before closure and will try and see if any information can be gleaned.

I wonder if remaining animals are relocated or if another company or even individual will come and take over the management of what remains ‍

I do feel for the zoo staff, to be hearing this news before Christmas when many of them simply won't be able to relocate to Tebay easily especially if relying on public transport.

Opening hours for the zoo until closure as the zoo currently stands. Open every day 10-3pm except Christmas Day, Boxing Day up to and including 31st Dec. Free entry for all.

The departures are starting - the 4,0 Canadian lynx are returning to Hamerton Zoo where they were originally born. It has been stated on the zoo’s social media that the tiger pair will leave once the collection closes.

Visited the zoo today 29/12

Top walk through section closed to general public seemed to be open for tours (bears to top avery)

Lots of people milling around.

Bears enclosure much improved since our last visit. Lots of buildings look like work is needed. Vulture Avery completely empty - around five macaws in Avery type cages inside. Sloth may be housed in top building.

Really feel for staff, many of which looked gutted about the closure when people asking about the future of the animals.

Only two more days left now. It seems they remain very tightlipped about the actual reason for closure and have avoided any form of explanation. Merely moving on to promoting their new venture. I'm sure some of their regulars would like to ask not only where their animals are going but why... but it seems they are not being given that option.

Haha we visited on the same day, I had a similar list besides:

The Sloth, Stan, is also still in the original enclosure (former Giant Anteater, Pygmy Hippopotamus)

Yes, I only wrote what I actually saw spmit would be out a bit. We didn't wander by the old hippos.
