Nearest UK Zoo

A bit of fun without telling everyone where you live what is your local zoo and when was the last time you visited - for me Hertfordshire Zoo - honestly 4 years ago - i am due a visit this year
 
It isn't really a zoo, but Cassiobury farm and fishery is our closest attraction of that type and we went last Easter. In terms of a proper zoo, Whipsnade zoo is probably closest and we went last February.
 
Twycross zoo but it’s been over a yr our membership ran outand didn’t renew,we tend to go to peak wildlife more now
 
The Lake District Wildlife Park is my nearest. I normally visit two or three times a year, and my last visit was in September. I do plan on visiting again some time soon, but I might wait until Spring when the weather is better, because this zoo can be downright depressing in the Winter months.
They're also due to get a new animal soon, bush dogs, but when I asked a keeper during my last visit in September he said it will likely be another year or so before the bush dogs actually arrive, because their intended enclosure needs to be completely re-developed for them. With this in mind, I don't know if I should wait until later in the year before I visit again.

Technically, the closest zoo to me is Maldon Promenade Petting Zoo, which I visited once last year and am unsure if or when I will revisit it.

After that, Call of the Wild Zoo is my next closest - I visit maybe twice a year. Colchester Zoo is a couple of miles further in the opposite direction, and I try to visit there at least once or twice a month.
 
The closest to me is Twycross Zoo and the Yorkshire Wildlife Park which are both about an hour from me. I sadly haven't visited either of them since 2012 but hopefully will plan a trip back up to YWP soon.
 
With me now at university the closest somewhat zoo is Tropical Butterfly House near North Anston. I can't say I'm ever considering a visit given I'd much rather save almost £17 and visit somewhere like Lincolnshire Wildlife Park which has far more species of interest and the admission is more affordable.

I tend to try and do at least one visit to Blackpool per month.

Wild Discovery has been on my radar for a while, I think I will visit for the first time this year, in Spring or Summer.

I wouldn't dismiss the collection in question out of hand - I've only been twice, but I very much enjoyed both visits and it contains rather more species (and quite a large amount of outdoor exhibits) than the name "Tropical Butterfly House" would tend to imply!

Also, you are exaggerating the price of entry by a ridiculous degree :rolleyes: entry to North Anston is £17.95 whilst the entry cost for Lincolnshire is £14.95 - so a visit to the latter would save £3 rather than £17 :D
