Email from the zoo today, stating the following:
Izulu and Zuri moving on to BCS and lion area being redeveloped for new arrivals
Walkthrough with goats and sheep to open, and alpacas and pigs being added to farm
Madagascar area not happening due to above
New reptiles being added
Porcupine/meerkat areas being improved, and mongooses added

Persumably the "new arrivals" will be rescue lions from somewhere?

It could align to their statements about conservation and would put those lions on display to more people.

So their sister park is BCS yes? BCS haven't long received those Asiatic lions(2yrs?) personally it seems pointless to move the Asiatic when they arent taking up space as they are building/built a new lion enclosure for the Whites.

Lions were confiscated from a circus in France in November/December surely these would be a better option for Hertfordshire?

I would imagine it would depend on the temperament of the cat. If these animals have come from a traumatic background, there’s no point putting them on public display if it triggers negative behaviours. Those with long memories may recall the white tiger Narnia who came from similar circumstances and who was eventually transferred to the BCS

On the 2024 thread one person said they had received an email stating the BCS Asiatic lions would be moving to Hertfordshire zoo temporarily.

Out of ignorance, is this a retired breeding pair or are they still genetically viable?

The lemurs are no longer receiving new upgraded exhibits because they’ve chosen to build a goat and sheep walkthrough instead?o_O

That's what the email says

We’re excited to announce a new immersive walk-through with our goats and sheep, promising a closer interaction with these farm animals. We’re also introducing alpacas and pigs to enrich our farm area! This new development means the previously planned Madagascar area will no longer happen, due to other exciting plans in the years to follow.

Thanks. What a disappointing and bizarre decision.
