Edinburgh Zoo Edinburgh Zoo News 2025

There only seem to be two koalas at the zoo now. I know they had four for a while and one was moved to another zoo but hadn't heard if they'd moved another one, taking the three down to just two.
 
There are only two koala names on the board in the koala area now, which is also why it looked like they're down to just two. I didn't note which koala name was missing though - sorry.

There's still 3 listed on the website. Kalari, Talara and Myaree.
 
I know, that was where I first checked but definitely just two on the board at the zoo and I could only see two yesterday. (Though I know they can be difficult to spot!) Perhaps it'll be in a zoo member's email at some point or the missing one will reappear!
 
Anyone know of what could be replacing the Zebra on the African plains habitat? When the Zebras move to the brand new enclosure opposite the Giraffes?

Is it just the Zebras or are the Nyala moving in as well to make a mixed exhibit?
 
Not sure the permit they put through on Edinburgh council website just says Zebras and shows the Zebra stables would be good if they did mixed habitat though like other zoos do would like to see Ostriches in with the zebras or Ostriches and another animal mixed in the African plains habitat

Can You remember the names of the two on the Board....? Would be helpful!
 
Yeah you can see more on the permit plan they put into Edinburgh council I’ve included it down below. I have heard rumours that the Camels could be coming to Edinburgh zoo potentially in the old Zebra enclosure on the African plains enclosure

Has anything been living in the old Giant Panda enclosure since they left?

Edinburgh have really started to bring in some great new species in last couple of years and hopefully It'll show in the footfall in the coming season
 
Will they just move to another enclosure in the zoo? Shame to lose a striking species like that
