Went to the zoo yesterday and took a few photos of the upcoming Amur Leopard Exhibit area.

A key indicator that this thing is about to open to the public is that the adjacent porcupines are back on exhibit after being removed due to the construction.

Wow, they really like to use wire and wood at CFLZ. I am interested to see it up close, I may try and get over there sometime this summer?

Rafiki a 13yr old "Reticulated"/generic Giraffe has passed away following a battle with a chronic illness

That's sad.

Not saying it's the zoo's fault, but it's not a good look either given that he was only 13 years old and their only other giraffe will now be alone in the exhibit. Stuff happens, but hopefully they can find another. Really, there should be a herd of giraffes instead of just a couple.

The zoo should really step it up and do a whole overhaul with a big roaming space and African theme. This area always felt temporary to me.

Fortunately generic giraffes are pretty available on the market. Although it is sad to read, of course.

The zoo has made a lot of great improvements over the last 15 years, I would love to see their 20 year plan now and if it has similar improvements to a savanna expansion.

Did they announce what they plan on exhibiting in the future? That exhibit has housed several different species over the decades. I'm surprised those two girls are still alive, I worked with them about 8 years ago and they were older back then.

@PSO, the zoo teased the possibility of upcoming changes, but since they worded said updates rather vaguely, I suspect it will be a while before anything significant will happen to the current exhibit.

Personally, I hope the zoo will acquire a new pair of Warthogs, but I am also open to whatever new species they decide to bring in as a replacement.
