Female sand cat Jiu will be sent to Nasu Animal Kingdom in June 28 for breeding purposes.

Jiu had to stay in Kobe due to her health getting monitored. Her move has been cancelled due to unspecified circumstances on Kobe’s side.

The new shoebills will be exhibited starting in the 30th of this month. The male and female will be displayed in morning and afternoon shifts. Their exhibition is located at the exit of BigBill, called “Mabamba Camp”.

The kingdom has a new display schedule for the shoebills. The older pair will be on display in the greenhouse between 10:00 and 13:00. The younger pair will be in the greenhouse between 13:50 and 17:00.

Males will be in Mabamba camp on even days while females will be there on odd days.

The park has confirmed that Koume the pygmy hippopotamus is pregnant. Starting from June 23rd, the park will suspend feeding commentaries and will take other precautions for Koume’s comfort. Her mate TamTam will still be on display.

According to the website, the green iguanas are also displayed in the tropical forest area instead of the tropical wetland. The tropical wetland also houses carpet python.

The park is quite adamant about being the first in Asia to successfully breed shoebills.

The park will be receiving a female giant anteater from Higashiyama Zoo. The anteater Emi will arrive at July 14.

Emi’s official exhibition date is the first of August. The kingdom already has pictures of her in the enclosure.

The kingdom has constructed a four story parking lot. Let’s hope that this means that the other lots inside the perimeter of the kingdom could be used as exhibition space.

The calf is Named Uta and she is a female. Today she will be put on display with her mother.

I remember hearing that Emi was old so I thought KobeDo taking her in made sense to make some space in Higashiyama. This just feels unnecessary.

When I visited Kobe Animal Kingdom on August 4th this year, there was only one giant anteater being kept there. Honestly, I didn't know another giant anteater was coming to Kobe Animal Kingdom.

The former lowland tapir enclosure in Tropical Wetland is currently under construction. I hope it will become a large enclosure for fishing cats, but now that there are two giant anteaters in Kobe, it’s more likely to be an indoor enclosure for them to spend winter.
