Any hopes of elefant offspring in 2011 have been squashed.

Elefant cow "Trinh" lost her unborn calf.
 
The female Amur-Tiger Taiga (born at Moskow Zoo in 1997) has been shipped to Tierpark Chemnitz.

Amur-Tigers at the Zoo:

Group 1: 1,0 Mischa (born at Hagenbecks Tierpark, Hambourg in 1999), hybrid and sterilized
Group 2: 1,0 Tommy (born at Tierpark Berlin in 1992), 0,1 Conny (born at Leipzig in 1992)
Group 3: 1,0 Tomak (born at Leipzig in 2004, Tommy x Taiga), 0,1 Bella (born at Plzen in 2005), 1,0 Tamyr, 0,1 Selenga, 0,1 Angara (born at Leipzig in March 2009, Tomak x Bella)
 
That is right, he was sterilized in 2005 to keep him together with Conny all the time.
 
Arrivals in january:

- 0,0,5 Yellow-headed temple turtle (Heosemys annandalii) from Hongkong (Botanical Garden)
- 0,0,1 Malaysian giant pond turtle (Orlitia borneensis) from Hongkong (Botanical Garden)

- 1,0 Baringo giraffe (born March 24th, Maximilian x Knöpfchen)

Deaths in March:

- 0,1 Baringo giraffe "Jamala" (born June 2008 at Leipzig, Maximilian x Ashanti), she was euthanized and suffered from an severe injury after an accident in fall 2008
- 0,1 Amur tiger "Conny" (born 1992 at Leipzig)
 
Births in April:

- 1,0 Baringo giraffe (born April 4th, Maximilian x Ashanti)
- 0,0,3 Scimitar horned oryx

Deaths in April:

- 1,1 Baringo giraffes (0,1 Knöpfchen by accident, 1,0 calf, Maximilian x Knöpfchen, born March 24th)

Departures 2010:

- 0,2 Giant river otters (born at Dortmund Zoo) were shipped to the UK (Chester [0,1 Mandija, born 2005] and Dalton-in-Furness [0,1 Tupi, born 2007])

Arrivals 2010:

- Acacia rats

0,0,1 Western griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus fulvus)

BjoernN, do you know why Leipzig stopped keeping the water deers? They were quite new for zoo (cca 2 years) so it looks they didnt succed with keeping them. Thanks

They received two males from Szeged Zoo Hungary two years ago, one males was shipped to Berlin Zoo. The single male died in february.
 
Births in May (May 6th):

- 0,0,3 Snow leopards (Uncia uncia), sire: Onegin (born 2003 at Krefeld), dam: Laura (born 2001 at Wildpark Lüneburger Heide)
 
The three snow leopard cubs, born May 6th, are females (0,3).

Births in May:

- 0,2 Dall sheeps (Ovis dalli)
- 0,0,1 Slender-tailed cloud rat (Phloeomys cumingii)

Births expected in June:

- Baringo giraffe, Spotted hyena, Amur leopard, Amur tiger, Red duiker, Cape fur seal
