The Truth!

Hi every1,
Recently on the chat there are reasons to belive that i am elephant400, this is true! I will start explaning now!

I posted in a thread that i HOPE no serval was shot at chester, as when i visited i saw a few keepers looking around the exhibit, i asked on zoochat if there had been an escape, and members took this the wrong way! As to the elephant escape at balckpool, this is the truth! this was a few years back, it was opposite the camel house, the animal came through the hedge! THIS IS TRUE! the zoo wasn't long, and with the help of a dumper-truck, it was soon back home!
I was very young at the time and things i said could have been misleading but i didn't in a trillion years want it turn out like it did, and advise any young zoochatter to check their posts at least 10 times before posting them and get your parents to check them before posting! look what happened to me, you don't intend for these things to happen, but things happen that you regret and crap DOSE happen!

I love this site, I really do! I love zoo's too, which for a lot of people is completely wierd, but for here, ur wierd if u don't! I found zoochat in an RE lesson in school! I was so happy! I could talk about things i have only dreamed of with people! I got detention for being late for the class i had after RE cause i stayed on the computers! but i didn't care, because i found something cool and for once i fitted in! I was so sad after the inccident, i got a C in my year term 3 year 8, when i should have had an A* like my other grades! All, i could think about was how being young and foolish, could destroy the thing that reallyt keeps you going! It sounds really cheesy, but really, ZooChat is mostly everything to me! You try and not talk about the thing you passionise the most! I was depperessed, and did stuff i regret and I SINCIERLY APPOLOGISE! but i know after this i can't never come back, no matter how hard it'll be! But please, understand the young zoochatters, as well you know, they are only YOUNG and things they post can be missleading!
Thanx ZooChat (Sim) I'ts been a blast!

Pity your facts that add up to what you posted as Elephant400!!

But at least you`ve admitted that you and Elephant400 are one of the same,as a few of us have known all along and have been waiting for you to admit it!!!

See post number 9 of this thread, I think you'll find you DID make up ridiculous stories about animal escapes:

http://www.zoochat.com/38/im-working-chester-zoo-over-summer-91988/

It was brave of you to admit you were elephant400 (although I will point out that you only did it when presented with undeniable evidence) but being melodramatic and trying to lie your way out of it is not helping your cause at all.

What i meant was I "ASSUMED" they had escaped but not entirely sure, and "WANDERED" if any1 knew about it!

Well then why, if you only assumed there had been escapes, were you saying earlier on the chat that both blackpool and chester had covered these "escapes" up?

there were people that didn't know you were elephant400??! I'm from the other side of the world, only browse the UK forums, and even I knew you were elephant400!

Also in another thread you talk about wanting to work in the industry. even if you are young it is worth making sure what you post is fact as not only can your comments impact your reputation here it can also have a major impact on your chances of working in the industry.

I only siad they COULD have covered it up! I didn't know what i was doing! I didn't mean for it to turn out like this!

Actually, your exact words were "I was angry and only wrote it because I knew they [blackpool] would cover it up". That doesn't sound like much of a "could" to me! Also, continually saying that your stories are true and asking us to "trust you" (why???) is pretty much saying that blackpool and chester covered things up as they deny these "escapes" ever happening.

I don't have time to read through ZooChat's terms and conditions but I'm sure it says there that members should post under one username only. Recently we found that a prominent member had also been using the side-name 'Charly', which has since been banned by Sim.

Why do some members do that? There are probably a few others too, but those who have the time can often see through their cover by looking at their spelling and way with words. The reason can only be dubious, such as to back-up unpopular opinions put forward under the normal nickname, or as in this case, put forward gossip and unreliable information which the user is not brave enough to do under his normal (and sometimes respected/recognised) nickname.

I understand you in some ways though. I was young myself when I started contributing on the Yahoo Groups 'Zoo Historians' and 'Zoo Collectors', which were our main melting points prior to ZooChat, from around 2000 up until 2005 or so. There is no activity on those groups any longer but they are still open. So too are their archives, open to members with a Yahoo account. The archives contain my past (now embarrassing) contributions to zoo discussion and anyone today can see how I was then. The Internet never forgets. What can I say, I was young and foolish, but I can be proud of that I always did it under my own name and email account. I never tried to hide who I was.

I thought it should be posted here that, despite what I was previously told, I have just been informed that what gemsbok said about the elephants at blackpool may be true. It is indeed good to know that some of what he said may not have been lies and I apologise for not believing him on this matter. However, this does not redeem him in my opinion as, last night on the chat, he was still saying that chester had been lying about the serval escape and that this did happen despite being presented with strong evidence to the contrary.

Anyway, I thought that this should be posted so that gemsbok is not unfairly accused of lying when he may have actually telling the truth and to allow other members to make up their own minds on the matter.

I was aware of an incident with the Elephants at Blackpool Zoo over 10 years ago but the way Elephant400 was telling the story,he made it seem a very recent thing,ie within in the last 3-4 years or less, which it certainly wasn`t.

Hey everyone makes mistakes and this is hardly the worst mistake in the world is it? (no one has died because of it). This is turning into a soap opera for zoo geeks! :D

What we are talking about were not mistakes, they were LIES. I think most people would forgive gemsbok/elephant if he had truly been mistaken but that is clearly not the case here. And I disagree on it not being too bad considering chester almost took this site - which we all love so dearly - to court over the matter. So forgive me if I take this seriously, but I do not want zoochat's reputation to be ruined by attention-seeking hypocrites posting things which blatantly aren't true and then trying to lie their way out of it!

Sorry I didn't make myself clear by what I meant by mistakes. To lie was the mistake (so not as in he/she got things confused). And i'm not saying it wasn't a bad thing to do (It was!) but has been, has been done. So surely the worst thing to do is to lament over this situation..its not going to change anything or make anyone happier.

Perhaps you're right, but to let gemsbok grandly proclaim that he didn't say anything was definite and just "assumed" along with telling us that everyone's taken these things out of proportion as he did on this thread and last night's chat makes it seem as though we don't mind. Perhaps if a few people do stand up to him then it will make him, and others, think twice about doing something like this again.

Hilarious, how many pints?

The ability to laugh at yourself is a great attribute. Let's face it, life's ridiculous if you think about it too much.

Sober. Just a mixture of rubbish typing, youth, and a hint of insanity :D
