Far from you being in a minority I think chimps are actually the animal that people love to hate... or maybe just like to dislike! Specially zoophiles!
Well seeing as this is only a temporary thing until Islands is done, and the Philippine Crocs can return in a enclosure where the zoo can control the temperature,so that the animals don't have to suffer a period of being chilled because a constant temperature cannot be maintained!I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed in the choice of Spectacled Caiman. I was hoping the replacements might have been something equally as rare (or as interesting) as the Philippines.
I understand that many members of 'Joe Public' had complained that the Crocodiles were "too small"! Hope they enjoy the Caiman!![]()

Because they couldn't get hold of any!On that basis why not either display American or Chinese alligators ?
Spectacled Caiman come from a far greater range and can cope with the dips in temperature easier than the Philippine Crocs can.It seems strange to replace one tropical species with another when they can't control the temperature! As for the size of the animals, i'm sure they will recieve even more complaints. Maybe this will be rectified if they ever include the Esturine crocs in Islands.
Over the past few years Chester seems to have decimated their "on show" reptile exhibits, I would hope this changes in the future.
No i did not mean SMR he is not a *****. I meant the person that posted on facebook the first time. I know if SMR has posted it on here it is known already and he wouldnt leak secret info! Its nt always a good thing knowing before someone as it could get you in trouble. I know the chester regulars that visited the zoo recently may have guessed, i know i did but they also know how to be discreet. I just wonder if any of us will be lucky enough to see the birth this time or are paths shut off already?
Visited today (still here) no sign of the anteaters and the sign is still up that says they will be there soon. And also a brilliant view off the tiger platform. Unfortunately, it looks like both kirana and fabi have been shut inside. But board at window so you cant see in. But on the plus side the bleeding heart dove chick and turaco chick in tropical realm both out. And young superb fruit dove in islands in danger, and clear view of spectacled caiman in TR and the southeast asian avairies are open again.
Went back to see if tigers were out and fabi was but not looking impressed and kirana was being shouted to coax her out but she stayed hidden inside...! Fabi spent alot of the time whilst we were watching by the door pacing to get back in.
To be fair yes it is still secret info till the ZOO announce it to the world i.e in the press/on facebook/on there website. And I am intrigued as to who you mean regarding the birth? And great to see the I know more info then you do still exists on here. There is more news from today but I will let you guys tell all about the zoo.

Yes but that means paying for the animal which Chester doesn't do normally! This seems strange as it is fairly easy to obtain chinese alligators as a reptile hobbiest.
In the late afternoon I spent about an hour watching Fabi dozing in the sun on his top platform and then bound down and indeed mooch around the weighing pen area door (?) - I heard Kirana get shouted but as you say she was elusive. Fabi wasn't shut in as far as I could see though - at least he wasn't in the afternoon from about 3pm.
Anteaters were in their new enclosure this morning. We spotted the female with the infant on her back at the front by the termite mound that is being built. Grabbed a couple of pics before she headed round the back.
yes i spent almost all morning walking around their enclosure and going up on the platform and it wasnt until around half 2 that he was out. I think i came and stood next to you on the platform when kirana was being shouted. I think you were having a conversation about dogs?
