Ooooh, comparative statistics!

This time last year I was on 76, so I'm more than double that now. My total last year was 204 (for Australia), so I'm more than ¾ of the way there. Actually, my total for NSW was 185, so I'm even closer to that (83%)!

you have really caught the bug. have you got a bird that you really want this year? I'm gunna have a big go for the hooded parrot next week. It's high on my list.

This exact day last year, I got 62 birds and 8 mammals. This year, I'm on 57 birds and 4 mammals. However, I expect to do a bit more birding later in the year than I was able to last year.

Okay, so I haven't done any major birding trips but I have picked up a few year birds here and there.

93 Ring-necked Pheasant
94 Western Meadowlark
95 Sandhill Crane
96 Say's Phoebe

also, that darn Mute Swan keeps making my count go off, so for now I'm counting it, even though they've yet to be officially put on the Idaho state checklist.

Only new bird to add is this

98 Killdeer

But I realize I haven't updated anything but birds in quite some time. So here is some non-avian housekeeping.

5 White-tailed Antelope Squirrel

Reptiles
1 Red-eared Slider
2 Western Painted Turtle

Went to the local Botanic Gardens this afternoon - there are three common species which I haven't recorded yet this year, and I knew I could find them here. I was not disappointed - in fact, quite by chance, I found a fourth species too!

Birds
155. European Blackbird
156. Yellow Thornbill
157. Spotted Dove
158. Red-whiskered Bulbul

Beginning of March is the birding doldrums here in North Texas. The spring migrants aren't here yet, and the winter birds are moving out. That said, I did pick up one year bird yesterday - a sign that migration is on its way.

132 Franklin's Gull - Leucophaeus pipixcan

I leave in 3 days for a birding trip to Idaho and Utah. Hoping for loads of life birds up there.
