but I don't want to have visited France!!

New Caledonia has a right to call for a referendum on independence between 2014 and 2018, so it may become a separate country in the near future (if it takes place and if it is accepted).

Hong Kong (many times)

Just checked and I've been to Hong Kong 9 times. 8 times in the 90's and again last year. As it was under British rule in the 90's but Chinese rule now does it therefore count as two separate countries. :D

nope, it doesn't even count as one country :p

I could change it to China?
I have been to Hong Kong but only the airport and I didn't see any identifiable birds while there so I haven't counted it on my list (identified birds is how I determine my visitation of a country). However, when I do eventually visit Hong Kong I will count it as a separate entity on a list of countries. Even though it isn't a real country. Just as I would count New Caledonia as separate from France.

I've only been to Canada. Next big trip (once I get some money saved) is not much further either St Pierre and Miquelon, Mexico, or the Bahamas. I'm told you can get a ferry to the Bahamas and be back the same day. Would save the trouble of getting a hotel room in a foreign country which I have never done before...but then again it would be nice to drive...to France! Then I could add France to my list. When I visit Mexico I plan to go in through one of those middle of nowhere gates and go to a middle of nowhere part of Mexico, if that's safe. Or go to SD and walk in. Save the trouble of extra car insurance.

I am not sure if I asked this before (I probably have...), but have you visited any countries that no longer exist?

I mean like Yugoslavia, USSR, East/West Germany, Zaire etc. I visited France when it still used Francs (currency) but I doubt that counts. :)

After a certain amount of interest in the do you travel thread: http://www.zoochat.com/25/do-you-travel-388911/ I thought I would bump this thread to see if anyone who hasn't seen it would like to post their lists or if people want to uodate their list of countries

I haven't, but I did hear a cool story in the Czech Republic about the tour guide's grandfather, who had lived in nine different countries, but never left Prague!

My list has grown by one country (and one continent!).
