Mogo Wildlife Park Mogo Zoo News

Does anyone know what name was given to the silvery gibbons first baby, it was a female born in 2009.

Mogo have announced that they are looking to add common marmoset to their collection, but more importantly, import pied tamarin!

we were there a couple of weekends back and they have built a bank of new cages for the tamarins and marmosets. The keeper said this was mainly for overflow stock that is currently off exhibit but that they were hoping to get a few new species.

Doing well with the species!

Any of the other Aussie zoos in the picture here?

Taronga had a pair but after one died they sent the other elsewhere. The only other zoo is Perth. They had a female born in 2008.

Taronga's male died so the female was sent back to Howlette's. Perth last bred Silvery Gibbon in 2010.

Just posted some unfortunately not great photos of the Silvery Gibbon and Marmoset babies.

I was going to post what I thought was breaking news about new monkeys arriving soon at Mogo Zoo from NZ - then I noticed zooboy28 already covered this a week ago on Franklin zoo Closure and Animal Transfers thread in NZ Forums:
http://www.zoochat.com/17/closure-animal-transfers-298445/

Nevertheless, thought it was worth repeating/linking the news here in a Mogo monkey thread of the Australia Forums....

Seen them all last weekend, the GLT twins are extremely cute. First time Emperor Tamarins have been bred in Australia in 8 years!

as mentioned by CGSwans on the Exotic Mammals thread, Mogo Zoo has announced on Facebook that they have a new (their first) binturong, called Baru (which is the Indonesian/Malaysian word for "new").

does anyone know anything about Mogo's snow leopard pair? The male came from Nordens Ark (Sweden) in 2010. Is the female the one bred at Mogo in 2003 (Tenzin) or was she imported from somewhere?
