hahaha sorry but I think we're all a little too busy getting out there and cleaning up to remember to take photos! I heard it's suppose to snow again tomorrow and yet again on Sunday so you may soon get your wish!:p:(;)

Wait, snowing sideways isn't normal for you guys? I think that is the only direction it can snow in Michigan.

It does occasionally snow downward, in which case we all go outside in our shots and flip flops and play volleyball and have a barbeque because this means it is very mild weather. Also on occasion we get it with thunder and lightening. Sometime this happens when its supposed to be spring out. Also, it will sometimes snow upwards.

Honestly though what I was most afraid of was the idiots who were obviously flaunting the travel ban for no good reason, and driving like idiots to boot (going 40 miles and hour in the snow, I hope the lone police car I saw was giving out tickets). Remember, you don't just endanger yourself when you speed, you also endanger those outside of your vehicle on the ground and in other cars as well. Also the snowplows, one hit by those and its lights out for good.

Sigh, I hope the Elephants at Roger Williams and Buttonwood Park enjoyed the mild Christmas weather we had because they certainly aren't outside now.
 
Is there still snow on the ground? What percentage of the Great Lakes is frozen at the moment? And what't the winter conditions in Europe at the moment?

I'm not looking forward to 35C on Sunday in Melbourne...
 
There is still snow on the ground in Michigan. It is very rare for us to go without having snow on the ground like we had for most of December. Snow will not start melting till early march in lower Michigan and late march to early april for the Upper Peninsula. Due to our location on the great lakes, Michigan tends to be one of, if not the snowiest, state in the nation on average, even beating out the likes of Alaska most years. Most people are not keeping close track of ice on the great lakes this year since it isn't comparable to last year's 91.4% coverage.

Warsaw has had one of the hottest winters in a while. The coldest it got was about -18 and has been hovering around -5 to +1 almost throughout the winter. According to my physics teacher, this is the first time in his lifetime that it hasn't got below -20 in winter. Supposedly it's been early spring weather throughout.
However, for me it's been really very cold because the last 8 winters I was in Saudi Arabia and all of my winters before that I've been in Thailand so I'm pretty pleased that I didn't go from minimum of 18 C winters in Saudi to -20:cool:. -5 was bad enough! :p
 
I have been shoveling non stop for the past two weeks, not a day has gone by without some kind of snow removal related task. I have yet to see a negative on my thermometer (a Fahrenheit thermometer), but I have seen it in the low tens and come dangerously close to frostbite on multiple occasions.
 
I didn't go to work yesterday as it snowed here Thursday night we had 2 inches in 10 minutes or so, it then froze. Being out door based work wise, I decided not to bother and go into Colchester for paint and collect some Auction things i had won. 1 mile up the road it was totally clear no snow at all, and that is at the top of the hill we at the bottom and usually get less being at sea level. Scattered wintery showers was certainly true for us Thursday.

On another point Last year we had 34 inches of rain, our average is 18 to 20, we are officially classed as semi arid, but not these last few years.

Here in Melbourne it has been a relatively mild summer in the sense that we did not have many days over 40C. This is excellent news for anyone that lives in bushfire-prone areas. This weekend will be over 30C on both days which is still too hot for me to be outside. 21C and sunny is ideal for me, or 25C and cloudy.
 
Yes, still tons and tons of the 72 plus inches we have received so far between the blizzard and storms back to back. They are collecting the snow in empty space and melting it because the city is so congested and has narrow streets, that there is nowhere to put it. It has affected parking for people that live in the city with huge mounds on corners. Sidewalks are still not the greatest and people are walking in the even narrower streets due to snow. The Train service is having issues with breakdowns and is affecting people getting around. Which hampers thousands as many work in the city. Fun stuff.

Yes, its been much more bearable than last year, although I got a bit envious of the weather in NZ, which was often warmer than here in January. In fact, one of the weeks in January was apparently the coldest on record (for January) in 15 years.

Zooboy, no complaints from me about cool weather. I am not a fan of melanoma!
 
Am I weird for wanting snow? Not like what the Eastern Seaboard has been having, just a good blanket.
