In other news Aalborg Zoo has also been named the new EEP-coordinator for Asian lions (Panthera leo persica).

I couldn't belive the Black caiman had never bred before but my search in the literature and Internet didn't result in another collection which was succesfull so CONGRATULATIONS to Aalborg. Hopefully other collections will follow.
 
A Rothschild Giraffe was born last night (12/13 June) This is the 2nd Giraffe birth at Aalborg this year
 
The zoo has a new species it's, Red-and-yellow barbet them are living in the pygmy hippo house in africa area. Also a Goeldi's marmoset have been born on friday 24/10-2014.
 
0.1 Polar Bear has been sent to Zoo Sauvage de Saint-Felicien in Canada this week
 
2.0 Asian Lion cubs born 30th December - not only a first breeding for Denmark but also the first offspring of the new founder male, Aakash from Singapore (imported June 2014) So these cubs are unrelated to the existing eep population on there father's side :)

That is fantastic news, this subspecies may not be as doomed in Europe as it appeared a couple of years ago! :D
I sincerely hope some more animals can be imported to increase the gene pool. :)

It looks fairly good in this respect at the moment. Rotterdam have Aakash's brother in quarantine and Prague are hopefully importing from Junagadh in the summer.
