I just hope that despite his name Gernot will be loved by both his keepers and visitors.

I'm sure he will. It is a rather curious choice of name for a Gorilla, but no matter- more importantly given her past record, 'Effie' seems to be doing a good job of mothering so far this time.

btw now trying to think of other Gorillas that have been renamed after moving. Mzuri(at Melbourne) to Ya Kwanza(at Jersey) springs to mind.
