@Xavier GM Even a zoo that is arguably world class (Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand) had two huge bull Asian Elephants chained while the females moved around the exhibit. Gembira Loka Zoo in Indonesia had one bull chained by 3 feet so he could only sway on one foot! Elephants are walked through many zoos and sometimes the public is allowed to touch their trunks and feed them. There are elephant rides, chained elephants, free contact...it's bonkers from a western perspective. Often, the elephant exhibits are very small as well, but in Southeast Asia elephants are basically domestic farmyard animals.
