This old building is very much a product of its time and to have primates, birds, reptiles and amphibians all in a single structure is almost unheard of these days. It would be nice to see the zoo ship out all the animals, overhaul the interior and create a wonderful modern Reptile House, but that would probably cost $20 million and Little Rock is struggling for any kind of funding these days.
@snowleopard the master plan from 2014 called for renovating it into an "Aquatorium" with two large aquatic tanks, a touch pool, and classrooms. A walk-through aviary would also be attached to the side. But almost nothing from the master plan has been implemented so at this point who knows what its future looks like.
