This is a map I've kept for many years. The big highlight of that year was the opening of the African Village area - the circle loop southwest of the Elephants.
There are a few things not marked:
The three cylinder-shaped structures between the chimpanzees and the Hamadrayas baboons were the last of the 1960s primate cages still standing. I think one had a Gelada baboon but that's all I remember. The spider monkey exhibit replaced them a couple years later.
The circle in the back corner between the macaws and Gibbon Island was where the sun bears were just a few years earlier. It later featured tamarins and now has Guira cuckoo birds.
To the left of the baboons was a small exhibit that featured muntjacs. Later they moved in with the Sika deer and that spot became a restroom.
One more interesting thing I will share: I remember those days hearing a rumor that the western half of the lion exhibit (where the wooden deck is) was originally supposed to be a separate exhibit for a rhinoceros, but the zoo ended up unable to get one so they just made it part of the lion's spot. I have no idea if there's any truth to that or just a myth that spread among guests.
