I just thought I would upload some old maps of Hamilton Zoo as there are none in the gallery or on the zoo\'s website. It is also the best way to show the changes in the zoo, which has undergone massive changes and expansion in the past decade, more so than any other NZ zoo, although the rate has definitely declined recently.
Following on from the pre-2000 map, the most significant change here is the loss of the 'Out of Africa', 'Orinoco' and 'Vanishing Praire' exhibits, and the construction of the new hoofstock paddocks to the north of the old bison paddock. This was (and essentially still is) two paddocks, one to the east with bison and one to the west with giraffe, nilgai, zebra and springbok. At this time a new, very large, Sumatran tiger exhibit was being constructed on the old giraffe exhibit site. A new (very good) Brazilian tapir exhibit had also been recently opened.
