This 3-acre African elephant exhibit holds only 4 elephants, and that is probably the #1 reason it appears to be so lush in the middle of summer. The pool is huge and there are not any conspicuous metal poles sticking out from all corners of the habitat as can be seen at many other zoos. North Carolina has 7 elephants on 7 acres and along with Nashville both zoos have lush, green elephant paddocks that probably stay beautiful all year long.
