Hamilton Zoo Map. From the first guide book produced by Hamilton Zoo.
I just thought I would upload some old maps of Hamilton Zoo as there are none in the gallery or on the zoo's website. It is also the best way to show the changes in the zoo, which has undergone massive changes and expansion in the past decade, more so than any other NZ zoo, although the rate has definitely declined recently.
So by 2003 the Sumatran tiger exhibit was well finished, and a group of African hunting dogs had been installed in the old ostrich exhibit next door (the ostrich having moved to the African savannah exhibit). Cheetah had also been imported and moved into an old hoofstock paddock. The spider monkeys had moved in with the tapirs and the Serval had died, with a splinter group of lemurs moving in there. The Asiatic golden cat had gone (died/moved?) and Bob Cats from Franklin Zoo replaced that. The waterbuck/sitatunga exhibit had been emptied and was being changed radically for the arrival of the chimpanzee group from Auckland Zoo.
