4/21/2024 - Acrocanthosaurus atokensis skeleton cast

This skeleton is very well displayed! I know very little about dinosaurs, but this particular species was first discovered in my home state (Oklahoma) and this specific specimen was excavated in southeastern Oklahoma over several years in the late 1980s. A cast of it is on display at the Museum of the Red River in Idabel, Oklahoma, but the original is there at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. It's nice to see the original! Since the discovery of the first specimen (a partial skeleton) in Oklahoma in the 1940s, others have been found in at least five states from what I've read.
