August 3rd, 2010. Species list: white rhino, ostrich, sitatunga, gemsbok, Nile lechwe, blesbok, Thomson\'s gazelle, greater kudu and defassa waterbuck.
As one can imagine it is difficult to locate the animals in such a massive exhibit. There are literally hundreds of zoos worldwide that could be doubled in size and then placed inside this 40-acre enclosure and that still leaves the rest of the 500-acre North Carolina Zoo to explore! The zoo is over 2,000 acres in size, it all is seen via foot, and about 500 acres is developed.
