The Abyssinian Genet is known from fewer than 20 museum specimens and had not been collected for 60 years until 2016, when researchers trapped and collected a specimen in the Foret de Day in southern Djibouti. Our group may have been the first to photograph a live specimen in the wild. Notice the gorgeous stripes on the back of the animal.
