What is exhibited on the right of the path in this photo? Is it the large savannah in the centre of the African area? The barrier seems very minimal, I like it.
Truly a loss. One of my favorite European zoo exhibits is no more....
I want to like the new Wildlands, but nothing I've seen in photos approaches the quality and organic "rightness" of this savanna exhibit or the amazing original penguin exhibit, now replaced by a vast sea of gunite and "themed" public walkways and buildings.

I completely share your fears, though I also would like to be able to love the new zoo...
Imo I would have been much better to invest a small part of the costs of building a completely new zoo into big renovations in the old one. E.g. replacing Biochron and part of the adjacent enclosures into an up-to-date evolution museum + aquarium together with other changes, that would have kept the unique athmosphere intact...
