I loved this African Savannah when I visited the zoo in August, and there are around 10 different species of mammals and birds in the large enclosure.

Which mammal species do they have now in the exhibit ? I've seen in 2002 giraffes, thomson gazelles, common waterbuck and eland. Have you seen yet the gerenuk in this enclosure ?

I visited this August and there were giraffes, thompson gazelles, waterbuck, eland, ostrich, african crowned crane, at least 2 species of vulture, ankole cattle and possibly one or two other antelope species. I don't think that I posted any photos that show gerenuk in this 4 acre savanna.

snowleopard is correct, there are giraffe, common eland, Ankole cattle, a common waterbuck, Thomson's gazelles, ostrich, white-faced whistling-ducks, ferruginous pochards, East African crowned-cranes, yellow-billed storks, Rueppell's vultures, and lappet-faced vultures. They also have 2.0 gerenuk that were planned to go on exhibit there, but I have yet to receive confirmation that this has happened successfully yet.

So the grand total is 12 species in this 4-acre exhibit. It might sound as if it is jam-packed, but I think that it's one of the better savannas in North America.

And it's just one of five mixed species hoofstock exhibits at the Phoenix Zoo. They also have exhibits with southern white rhinoceros/ Spekes's gazelle/ Egyptian goose, mhorr gazelle/ Kirk's dik-dik/ kori bustard/ African spurred tortoise, Grevy's zebra/ marabou stork, and Chacoan peccary/ greater rhea/ crested screamer
