Is this exhibit a normal part of the zoo open to all zoo visitors now or do you only see the giraffes in behind-the-scenes tours still? I remember there was some controversy about that (or maybe just some negative comments by Zoochatters).

This is part of the zoo. However, getting to this exhibit takes quite a bit of walking which is not comfortable on what was a really humid day! On display in the savannah exhibit are plains zebra, (hybrid) giraffe and southern white rhino. The cheetahs, however, do not have a proper exhibit so cannot be seen unless they are being taken on walks in the area. There is meant to be a second phase to Africa which will include a cheetah exhibit and lemur (walkthrough?) exhibit.
