I don't usually judge exhibits and say it out loud but even I felt uncomfortable looking at this (and the zebra exhibit). The photo completely deceives what the size of the exhibit actually is. It's about 157 X 100 and the pool is 27 X 16.
Here's a side-by-side comparison to the North Carolina Zoo's elephant exhibit from both 100 ft in the air.
Thanks for the comparison of what is arguably North America's #1 elephant exhibit with one of the absolute worst. Does Louisville still have a single African and a single Asian Elephant in together? An outdated combination in a very small paddock, and in fact Louisville's entire African complex is subpar in comparison to most other major American zoos.

Yes nothing has changed, they are still together. I expected the African Savannah to look like an actual Savannah but all the exhibits were in their own separate area. The two things that bothered me about it was the old fencing (mostly chain-linked), and the fact that excessive amount of gravel is used, especially in the zebra habitat. On another note most of them provide large amounts of shade and are good in size with the exception of the elephants and the lions.
