He passed away at 50 a bit less than a year after my visit, and he's going to be preserved at the Nairobi National Museum. He seemed to have been well documented and loved, even having his own merchandise in the hotel gift shop. I ended up really lucky getting to see him up close at the front gates of the park, definitely something I'll remember for a lifetime.
